Artists often are inspired to paint nature in all its multicolors, especially the four seasons with its changes from Summer, Autumn, Winter to Spring. Art Heart studio, a community studio in Regent Park, operates in the church basement of St. Cyrie and Methodie. It offers free art programs for children, youth and adults on government subsidies. It has shows in participating galleries annually and Show gallery hosted this group show on Nature. Each artist could submit up to three paintings done through the year and any sale proceeds go 100% to the artist. Artworks are often under $200 each which makes them affordable gifts for Christmas. Artists take turns watching the gallery in shifts and promote each other to potential buyers and viewers. From different cultural backgrounds, mainly European and Asian, the artists have a common love of painting and paint from photographs of nature onto canvas, using materials provided free by Art Heart. Nature includes both the fauna and flora, animals and plants, landscapes and even seascapes. Some artists in Art Heart only paint nature so this show is their chance to shine in the community of art viewers and buyers browsing along Queen Street West. These paintings can be hung at home or in an office, given as gifts for Christmas or birthdays. Most of them are accurate copies of the photographs which inspired them. It would have been nice to have some of the paintings done within Nature's settings but working from photographs is often easier because it already has a flat 2 dimensional look with the colors. Nature inspires and elevates the human soul and whatever medium artists or photographers use this feeling translates to the viewers. Art tutors in Art Heart sometimes help the beginners with free tutoring and group classes in drawing, color, light, shade, perspective, painting, and other media. Most artists work independently side by side with easels and tables and are free to converse while working. Free dinner is included with the adult evening sessions.
