Launching his book The Son of the 100 Best Movies You've Never Seen, Richard Crouse entertained his fans, readers and listeners of his shows, at The Gladstone Hotel. For film and movie fans, reviews by critics such as Crouse, can be influential in decision-making of whether to see a film/movie or not, or to like or dislike it. Media tries to remain neutral, unlike publicity agents of films/movies who obviously present them as best as they can to convince viewers to see a film/movie. However, even media and critics can be biased for or against a film/movie. Personal tastes and professional opinions are often merged in their articles and reviews, even interviews. Sometimes, critics may like a film/movie and recommend it but it fails at the box office since the public may not see it as entertaining enough; or vice-versa, critics may dislike one, but the public makes it a commercial success. To find out how accurate Crouse is in determining the value of a film/movie for its artistic, educational, entertainment and commercial success, one would have to read his books and listen to his shows. He has a list of films/movies and one can read his review and decide whether his viewpoint matches. For those who only watch less than 10 films/movies a year, whether influenced by an advertisement, article, word of mouth, this book may be useful. But for those who are addicted to cinema of all types, it would be better to decide on your own. Reality or imagination has many sources and are best expressed through films/movies and having an open mind will allow you to see the multi-faceted expressions of the medium.
