Through internal emailing member lists of the Philippine Press Club of Ontario (PPCO), news and events prior to publication that may be of interest to all the press members of the Philippine-Canadian community are shared.  The media party hosted by the new M Studio of Deo Moreno, a PPCO member said that he plans to encourage Philippine talent and culture at his theater club.  Local music talent from Minerva Recordings, performers of Mentor Productions for shows, film screenings, photo exhibits are welcome!  Young 'wave wannabe' singers were taking turns practising their songs on stage and recording 1 1/2 minute samples for a talent contest to be hosted by German Moreno, while under the guidance of Teresa Torralba of Mentor Productions who organizes the 'Filipinos Making Waves' Festival in August, including their eager stage mothers who watched them from the back; cash and maybe a recording contract in the Philippines were the prizes.  Most of the youths are in their teenage years, take singing lessons and perform in small shows.  With all this support from M Studio, Mentor Productions, PPCO, their stage mothers, their dreams to make careers from their singing can be realized with time and effort.  Dinner and drinks were served by Moreno's staff and this hang-out will be opening soon to the public by July.

Later, we proceeded to another new karaoke restaurant, 'Cecille Filipino Cuisine', named after Cecille Araneta, who also supports and sponsors young talent, and has a karaoke stage with tv and mic set up for entertainment while eating.  They will be opening mid-July to the public and serving delicious Filipino food.  A few of the young 'wave wannabes' went on stage to sing, practising their songs; later everyone went on the mics choosing favourite song hits and sang along.  Locations that encourage talent are becoming more popular, offering food and drink with entertainment.  This is wonderful news for aspiring entertainers who can get public exposure until their big break, spotted by some producer or agent, and customers get that extra bonus to listen to songs while dining and drinking, or to get up onstage and perform too.
