This week tested the audio setup with the manager at St. Lawrence Market North and he connected the karaoke mate to their system and the ceiling p.a. system worked great (tested with Music for Minorities cd) .  Just need long cables for the projector audio to connect to this setup.  No need for the wireless speakers as the p.a. system is loud enough.

Last minute preparations for props and floor plan:  bridal tent with Mr. Skeletor, skull heads on poles, giant skull, flying ghost, skull heads, love voodoo doll, bridal tight rope.

On Saturday, practise and discussions with my friends for their characters:  The Sylph, The Feminist, and The Tourist.  Space projector for the moonlight will work with casting shadows from the movement.  Handed them some of the invitation cards which means 15% commission for them if any they invite buy tickets.

Filming will be with Hallucid Production for hd film camera and full view and the video cameras of studio i for closeups, or vice-versa.

Movies:  Music For Minorities and Prologue Of Love

Two males dropped by at 5pm after seeing the NOW listing but I had to set up and ask them to return at 6pm.  Naomi Laufer who plays the sylph and her boyfriend Henry, visited and watched Music For Minorities.  I ordered 2 medium vegetarian pizzas by Domino's with delivery and tip $27.  We watched the film and occasionally chatted about it and our lives.  Naomi liked it and thought it was spiritual and she mentioned there used to be an experimental theater 'Funnel' (?) in Toronto nearby where she did workshops but it closed.  It's good to know some artists like experimental too.  One guy said he was not sure how they all connected to each other.  There are a lot of characters in the film.  Henry said that the country hick (whom I pointed out as the Director Rouse) did not do a good job of it as farm people talk differently and he sounded drunk (he was holding a beer bottle); also the rubber feet scene did not show her new pair of rubber shoes.  Naomi noticed that one of the singing choir was barefoot walking in the forest scene.  People actually notice feet?

This weekend, the same guy from the youth group in Peel called that he now has about 15 going instead of 10 so he asked for another discount.  Of course in advance, in bulk, for youth, non-profit, it can be arranged.  He gave their website. He saw it last week listed in Toronto.com (thanks to Diane who saw it in a club website).

Halloween events are already happening with Zombie Walk today, Toronto After Dark Film Festival, and even during Nuit Blanche.  Hope this continues and Minorites Homeless Halloween will attract the same crowds.

Movie:  Prologue Of Love

This weekend, a youth group volunteer staff phoned to inquire about buying group tickets to see the films and event.  Non-profit and groups can get the discounted price of $10 each in advance through the ticketing partners Wantickets or Clubzone.  Hopefully other groups buy in because it sure makes marketing easier in bulk!  But he needs approval from the Board.  Someone who attended another film event visited and asked to see Prologue of Love.  Also Clubzone revealed that the last 48 hours are when most advance tickets get sold.

OFFLINE

Dates:  Sundays in October

Location: studio i

Preview: Trailers

October 5

It was good to see some of the films listed in the NOW newspaper under the films section, p. 108 and online.  But most attention is usually taken by ads and articles which cost money.  Some of the Characters showed up to talk and eat pizza.  We discussed the event and a few films.  With the directors elsewhere, most talks do not go too far because who can answer the questions which arise?  The large screen is ready and has been tested hanging on the cable wire at St. Lawrence Market North building.  Films and videos to be screened on October 30 event:  Heat Wave Rave by studio i, Shelter From a Storm by Michael Connolly, Music For Minorities by Mikel Rouse, Prologue of Love by Bohdan Vandiak, plus a few shorts.  Most concern however is for the variety show of mini-acts:  Fear Factor and P.R.I.D.E. (Population, Racism, Integration, Diversity and Economy).  More practise sessions will have to happen in these last 3 weeks countdown to October 30 event.
