Event: SES Conference Website: Search Engine Strategies Date: June 17, 2008 Location: Metro Toronto Convention Center pt. 2 pt. 3 and Epiar/Yahoo party Internet promotion and marketing strategies help businesses with websites to increase potential customers. Popular search engines such as: Yahoo, Google, LiveSearch, Lycos, Ask are used by many online users looking for specific information on subjects, by typing in key words. Many members of Yahoo and Google have a lot of freebies, aside from using the search engines for free, there are email accounts, daily news articles, videos, games, and many more! Businesses who have information, products or services to sell online want to be on top of the search engine listing for target keywords specific to their business. When a customer types in keywords in search of something they want to purchase, such as 'Asian masks', the search engine will within a few seconds come up with usually thousands of webpages that use those 2 words separately or combined: Yahoo 1 - 10 of about 5,200,000 for Asian masks (About this page) - 0.20 sec.
Google Results 1 - 10 of about 433,000 for Asian masks. (0.21 seconds)
These listings crawl through webpages scanning for those keywords from the heading, title, metatags, contents, and other locations. For consumers, the first page of listings is very important since most are looking quickly and usually are impatient to find what they are looking for to contact those businesses that have them. Ranking and relevance are the most important factors that businesses have in mind, and having their business name show up. In Google, there are paid positions for those businesses who want to be on top of the usual listings. SES, Yahoo, and Yellow Pages sponsored this conference and exhibition with other businesses displaying their services too. Refreshments were served on location. Also, an after party at the roof patio of Ultra Supper Club hosted by Yahoo and Epiar with more drinking, socializing and dancing to afrolatin drums led by capoeira dancers.
