Did you know that if slept under 7 hours or even under 8 you are 25% more likely to be overweight, and under 6 hours, 75% more likely to be overweight? And not only that but also you will have a sleeping debt that if chronich may mean you are depressed or anxious or moody or hyperactive most of the time? And that you will be too tired to do any physical activity such as excercising or having a good social life?
I have underslept from 1.5 to 2.5 hours each day all my life. I have decided I will stop this starting from today. I will start going to the gym today as well, I dont expect to go more than once or twice a week but it is very good for me.

The hours of sleep have been reduced drastically in the present society. The reason is the excess of thigns to do at night. With the advent of TV, it is actually intersting to stay up as late as possible, you get addicted to TV, as it causes a certain pleasure and its lack causes withdrawal (believe it or not).So, it is not only the bad food which is to be blamed for our obesity in North America.
And the realtionship of lack of sleep and depresion is a complex one. I don’t think we know which causes the other or if it is simply a vicious circle.However it is well known that clinically depressed people suffer very often of a disorder in the cyrcadian cycle.
